Blazing Barracudas Conflict Resolution Procedure
We believe that effective communication and mutual respect are essential for maintaining a positive and successful athletic environment. Conflicts may arise in competitive sports, and we expect that student-athletes, coaches, parents, and staff handle disagreements professionally and constructively.
Should a conflict arise within the team, we suggest the following course of action:
1. Athlete Self-Reflection – Before addressing a conflict, athlete(s) should consider their concerns objectively and ensure that they approach the situation calmly and respectfully.
2. Direct Communication – If appropriate, the athlete should first attempt to resolve the issue by speaking directly with the person involved, whether it be a teammate, coach, or another individual.
3. Coach Involvement – If the issue remains unresolved, the athlete should bring their concerns to their coach for guidance and mediation.
4. Parent/Guardian Support – If the issue remains unresolved, we encourage a meeting between the involved parties, the coach, and the parents.
5. Head Site Coach Mediation – If a resolution is not reached at the team level, the concern may be escalated to the Head Site Coach, who will work with all parties to mediate and resolve the conflict swiftly and fairly.
6. Head Coach/Director of Competitive Swimming and Diving Mediation – If a resolution is not reached at the site level, the concern may be escalated to the Head Coach/Director of Competitive Swimming and Diving, who will work with all parties to mediate and resolve the conflict swiftly and fairly.
7. Administrative Review – In cases where further action is required, administration and club ownership may be involved to ensure a fair and appropriate resolution.
Severity-Based Escalation Clause
Note: Depending on the nature and severity of the situation, steps in this process may be modified, bypassed, or escalated. Any incidents involving abuse, misconduct, or safety concerns must be reported directly to SafeSport and/or appropriate legal authorities without delay.
